A dream begins in El Paredón
The history of NEWay Tours dates back to a year after its founding, when three friends, owners of one of the first hostels in El Paredón, invited us to start a daily service to this earthly paradise. At that time, our fleet consisted of a single car from 1992 with capacity for 5 people. However, growing demand prompted us to rent modern and larger capacity vehicles.
A transformative impact on the community
Before NEWay Tours, transportation options to El Paredón were limited to high-cost private services. With the arrival of our daily services, El Paredón experienced unprecedented growth. Modest hostels became thriving restaurants, local people found employment opportunities in their own homes, and foreigners fell in love with the natural beauty of the place, deciding to settle there. El Paredón stopped being an unknown destination and became a must-see for those who visit Guatemala.

Our friends Brant, Jan and Rusty have been fundamental pillars in the development of El Paredón. With their own resources, they have tirelessly promoted this hidden treasure, boosting its growth and positioning. NEWay Tours, for its part, has been the faithful guarantor of connectivity, ensuring a reliable and quality service to all visitors.
Overcoming Obstacles: A Story of Resilience
Our path has not been without challenges. In 2018, the Fuego Volcano eruption, one of the most catastrophic in Guatemalan history, hit the region. Entire communities disappeared and the main route between Antigua and El Paredón was disabled for months. Faced with this adversity, we look for alternative routes, assuming additional costs without affecting the price of the service. The global pandemic once again tested our ability to adapt. As small entrepreneurs, we faced economic difficulties, but we were one of the first to resume tourism operations in Guatemala, again focusing our efforts on El Paredón.
